Privatephone is a service from NetZero Voice that assigns to you a free telephone number so you can give it out instead of your personal number. Calls to your Privatephone number will be answered by voicemail. Your voicemail messages can be retrieved either online at the NetZero Voice Message Center at http://webmail.netzero.com or from a regular telephone (You can access your voicemail by calling in from any phone. Just dial your Privatephone number, and press the * key before your greeting begins. Then enter your PIN at the prompt and listen to your messages.).

The Privatephone service works similar to email service. The only difference is instead of receiving only email messages, you can also receive and check voice messages.

The service is not as good as the AIM phoneline free phone number + incoming calls since you cannot receive the incoming phone call (unless you upgrade to NetZero Voice 100 & NetZero Voice Unlimited ). But if you can't get local phone number from AIM phoneline (or you don't like the quality and service of AOL), this may be another option.
